Textbook, Workbook, Playbook

The Delhi Government’s Dr. B R Ambedkar Schools of Specialized Excellence (SoSE) for Performing and Visual Arts launched a groundbreaking Visual Arts curriculum for higher secondary students, marking the first time Visual Arts is taught as a daily, specialized course in selected government schools.

I was among thirty-two students who were selected to help shape this initiative, each of us tasked with creating chapters for grades 9 and 10. Our mission was to reimagine how Visual Arts could be taught making art education more personal, imaginative, and hands-on.

I had the exciting opportunity to develop the first unit for Class 9—‘Fundamentals of Visual Making',

where I re-imagined the unit as a playful introduction to core elements like the dot, line, texture, and colour, weaving in perspectives from everyday life, culture, and print media. Through activities and storytelling,

our goal was to create not just a textbook, but a vibrant learning experience that inspires young learners.
